If you’ve never heard of Amanda Staveley, let us very quickly explain.
She’s a Yorkshire financier worth an estimated £110m – but with business associates worth a great deal more. Based in Dubai, she is known for her connections with a number of super-wealthy Middle Eastern investors, and was integral to Sheik Mansour’s high-profile purchase of Manchester City in 2008.
Newcastle United fans have been getting very excited recently, with growing speculation that Staveley is looking to the Magpies as the great sleeping giant of English football to invest billions into. The obscene funds that such a takeover would bring, along with the removal of Mike Ashley seems like a dream scenario for the Toon Army.
But the Mirror have pissed all over their chips with a report that Staveley has turned her attention back to wrestling control of Liverpool – the club she supports and has reportedly tried to take over twice in the past. As you can imagine, the news hasn’t gone down well in the North East, with fans fearful that Ashley has slapped an inflated price tag on the club…

Hopefully 3rd time lucky for Amanda Staveley, if the rumours are true. LFC needs this type of ambition & investment that FSG don't provide
