Sergio Agüero had a quiet night at Anfield on New Year’s Eve.
His first game back after his four-match suspension, the Argentine literally didn’t get a kick in the Liverpool box as Manchester City slumped to a 1-0 defeat – their fourth league loss of the campaign so far.
Still, a couple of days on and Burnley’s visit to the Etihad was seen by many as the ideal opportunity for Pep Guardiola’s side and Agüero to get back on track – even if Sean Dyche’s men had put four past Sunderland in their last outing.
But, as the team news started to filter out of the Etihad, it became clear that Agüero had been benched by his manager.
A shock to everyone, fantasy football managers up and down the land were particularly disappointed at the news.

Aguero being on the bench has absolutely ruined my life. Bearing in mind I've made him captain on fantasy too! Life take me away 😢🤔

Some even went as far as tweeting the club’s Twitter account to let them know precisely how disappointed they were.
