The Rotterdam club’s game with SC Heerenveen was interrupted by fireworks
Feyenoord supporters banned from De Kuip over lighting fireworks inside the ground are thought to have been responsible for shooting fireworks into the stadium during the Dutch club’s match on Thursday night.
According to De Telegraaf, part of the ground’s ‘S’ section, which houses some of the club’s more hardcore supporters, was closed for the visit of Heerenveen because fireworks were set off prior to a recent cup semi-final against Ajax.
In protest, some of those same fans are said to have shot fireworks on to the pitch from outside the stadium – temporarily halting the game, which Feyenoord won 3-0.

As the report mentions, it wasn’t just S section that remained empty. Other supporters chose not to attend the game in a show of solidarity with those who had been punished.
Other footage circulated on Twitter appears to show those responsible lighting the fireworks close by to the ground.
Protest from Feyenoord fans tonight! 1 stand had to stay closed cause of pyro earlier this season. Cause of that many other fans decided to boycott the match tonight.#Feyhee
