Fear not, Tottenham fans. Real Madrid have absolutely no interest whatsoever in trying to sign Harry Kane.
But hey, don’t just take that from us, take it from the European champions’ president, Florentino Perez – a man whose word we can all completely trust when it comes to his club’s future transfer plans.
Speaking to Cadena Cope (via ESPN), Perez made it perfectly clear that the idea of signing him had never even crossed his mind.
“Honestly, it hasn’t,” he said. “He is a magnificent player. He is young and has many years to progress. But we are delighted not just with [Karim] Benzema, but with all the players that we have.”
Not only this, he also denied that Daniel Levy had named his price for the England striker.
“No he didn’t. And if I asked him for the price he would have asked for €250m. He always goes for the top [amount]. We have become friends because of the time it took us to sign Luka Modric and Gareth Bale.”
To the amusement of plenty of Spurs fans, it seems Levy has also taken to reminding him of Modric and Bale’s influence on the Spanish club’s recent continental successes, too.
“Every time we win a European title, he sends me the same message: ‘Congratulations for the European title you have won with my players.'”
