Floyd Mayweather’s uncle is not too pleased about Conor McGregor using his nephew’s name to promote himself.
Floyd may not think he has beef with the featherweight champion, but his uncle certainly seems to, according to a recent interview with Fight Hype.
Jeff Mayweather slammed the UFC and McGregor for linking themselves to the 49-0 retired boxer in order to promote fights. He argued that comments from McGregor, such as the claim that he would finish Mayweather in 30 seconds, are just an attempt by The Notorious to leech off Floyd’s name to boost his own profile.
“It’s one of those things where the UFC was building their brand and building their fighters up off of Floyd’s name,” he said.
“First of all, it ain’t never going to happen, so it’s just talk, and the only way that you can make yourself seem like you are bigger than what you really are is to call out the best guy in his sport, who has actually proven to everyone what he can do.”
Jeff then tore into McGregor over his recent loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196.
“They want to make it like Conor McGregor is so great because he went up and got his ass whooped. Wow! That’s great? You went up and got your ass whooped. It would have been great if you went up and did something and you actually won; just like Floyd did in five different weight classes.”
He explained through an expletive-ridden rant that McGregor shouldn’t be getting credit for moving up two weight classes and losing. Jeff also feels that McGregor’s trash talk at Diaz’s expense in the lead-up to the fight was a shameful move.
“If Conor McGregor would have f**king won, oh my God, he would have been the greatest thing since f**king ice cream. But since he lost, now they want to give him credit for going up; going up and getting his ass whooped.
“You don’t get no credit for that. You chose to do that. You accepted that man’s challenge and talked plenty of sh*t about him, then you got your ass whooped by him. You made fun of him teaching Jiu Jitsu classes to children and then got choked the f**k out. You don’t get no damn honour points for that sh*t. I look at it this way, they ain’t got nobody else that can f**king mention Floyd’s name.”

The elder Mayweather also took aim at UFC president Dana White and Ronda Rousey, claiming that they, along with McGregor needed to talk smack about Floyd to promote the sport.
“Everybody listening to Dana White talking that stupid sh*t about Ronda Rousey beating up men and now they jump on Conor McGregor’s bandwagon, they don’t got no motherf**king wagon no more. That sh*t is over with. They don’t got nothing else to talk about. It shows that they need Floyd to promote their sport.”
