Leicester City took high flying Manchester City to extra time in their Carabao Cup quarter final on Tuesday night.
Leading through a first half goal from Bernardo Silva, Pep Guardiola’s (much changed) side looked to have won the game in normal time before a penalty was awarded to their hosts deep into added on time.
The decision itself was controversial, with Kyle Walker adjudged to have fouled Demarai Gray. To many, the contact was minimal – some even suggesting there hadn’t been any contact at all and that Gray had dived.

As a result, plenty of those watching the game wondered if the winger would face retrospective punishment from the FA for the matter.
That Gray dive was a million times worse than Lanzini’s at least he was touched my a sliding defender. If Gray doesn’t get banned it’s a joke #LCFCvMCFC #lcfc #whufc

Lanzini got banned for his dive, surely the @FA have to do the same to gray?

I assume Gray will now be banned retrospectively for diving to win a penalty an even bigger dive than Lanzini. However in both instances the sinned against team gets nothing in return. And the referees are never sanctioned.

Just seen the Leicester penalty decision. Should be minimum 2 game ban for Gray until you start giving lengthy bans for diving people will still do it

I look forward to Demari Gray's 2 match ban 👍

The penalty was then dispatched by Jamie Vardy, who had entered the game as a second half substitute.
