Former Arsenal youngster urged to delete old tweet after his move to Bayern Munich

How times change...

JOE

As we told you earlier this week, Serge Gnabry is now a Bayern Munich player.

Some Arsenal fans aren’t happy about this, either, and are (somewhat unfairly) pointing fingers at Arsene Wenger for letting this happen.

The 21-year-old moved to Arsenal as a youngster in 2011, and spent five years with the North London club. Partly down to injuries, first team opportunities were limited for him and, after an unsuccessful loan spell at West Brom, Gnabry made the decision to return to his native Germany.

Although Wenger wanted to keep him at Arsenal, a deal was struck with Werder Bremen last summer. Now, not even 12 months on, he’s impressed so much since returning to Germany that Bayern have snapped him up.

Clearly, it’s a move that few would’ve seen coming in the last few years, including Gnabry himself if one of his old tweets is anything to go by.

Sent over five years ago, Gnabry’s tweet explained that he was watching a potential Bundesliga title decider between Bayern and Borussia Dortmund. The hashtag that accompanied the tweet made clear that his allegiances were with Dortmund in the game, too…

The tweet has recently been discovered, with plenty of those replying to it urging Gnabry to delete it.

Clearly, times change quite quickly in football. Gnabry wouldn’t have imagined ever playing for Bayern when he sent the tweet, and neither would Robert Lewandowski – the man who scored Dortmund’s winner over Bayern in that particular game.
