Former Bayern star rips into Guardiola for being distracted by Man City job

Simon Lloyd

Those that are in the know seem to think that Pep Guardiola will be Manchester City’s new manager next season – regardless of how successful Manuel Pellegrini is in the remainder of this season.

After confirming his exit from Bayern Munich, Guardiola made it clear that he wants to manage in the Premier League, with City said to be his preferred destination.

Although Bayern have moved swiftly to replace him with Carlo Ancelotti, not everyone is impressed with Guardiola’s departure.

Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus has launched an attack on Pep, claiming that his plans for his next job are distracting him from his work with Bayern.

In an article for Sport Bild , the former Germany midfielder writes: ‘Guardiola can say what he wants.

‘The squad-planning for Manchester City is too important for him to have his head 100 per cent with Bayern Munich.’

Matthaus also claims that there has never been a ‘genuine love’ between the outgoing manager and the Bundesliga giants.

Although a move to City is yet to be confirmed, it appears Guardiola’s time at Bayern will reach a sour end.
