Evander Sno, the former Celtic and Ajax midfielder, is due to face attempted homicide charges in a Netherlands court.
The 28-year-old is one of multiple suspects in the case, according to Dutch website RTL Nieuws, and the charges relate to an incident in 2013 when Sno was on the books of RKC Waalwijk.
It is alleged that the former Dutch Under-21 international, along with two family members, kicked and beat two men. The footballer will have to answer charges of attempted homicide and attempted aggravated assault.
Sno played for Celtic from 2006-2008, and also had a spell in England with Bristol City.
His career has slowed after he twice suffered heart attacks on the field of play, in 2010 and 2012, and his last professional game came for Belgian club Westerlo in August 2014.
