Wayne Rooney had a reasonably good day at the office as Manchester United swatted away Reading in the FA Cup.
The former Everton man opened the scoring at Old Trafford, equalling Bobby Charlton’s goalscoring record in the process (or perhaps not), before Anthony Martial and a Marcus Rashford double completed the scoring.
But the game seemed to end on a slightly sourer note for Rooney, who appeared to have his shirt-swap efforts shut down – and he might have known the player in question was never likely to agree to the offer.

Midfielder George Evans has been a regular for the Royals under Jaap Stam, playing more than 20 games for the club already this season.
But the 22-year-old’s past – rather than his present- was responsibly for his apparent decision to shun Rooney.
Evans began his career with Manchester City, getting his only minutes for the club as a late substitute for Yaya Touré in last season’s League Cup, before rocking up at the Madejski Stadium in January.
And he certainly appears to say something to Rooney to make the United man stop reaching for his shirt, before shaking his head.
