Second chance?

Jose Mourinho left Real Madrid under a bit of a cloud, but the club could yet be prepared to offer the Chelsea manager a second chance.

Ramon Calderon, who was president of the Spanish club from 2006-2009, believes current incumbent Florentino Perez could be willing to bring Mourinho back as Rafa Benitez’s successor.

Benitez has only been in charge of the club for a matter of months, but his standing amongst the club’s top players has been questioned.

And Calderon told talkSPORT that Perez had failed with a move for Mourinho before settling for the former Liverpool boss.

“He likes him a lot and you can’t rule out seeing him again on the bench at the Bernabeu,” Calderon said.

“I know it seems strange, but if Benitez doesn’t have a good season and Mourinho gets sacked by Chelsea, I insist you can’t rule out seeing him here again.

“I know that the president tried to have him here instead of Benitez, but Mourinho said he didn’t want it and that it wasn’t the right time to come back.
