Tell Stipe that Francis Ngannou is coming.
Francis Ngannou has secured a title shot against UFC heavyweight king Stipe Miocic by sending Alistair Overeem in Detroit.
From early on, it was clear that Overeem was wary of the French superstar’s power. After sprinting in with a left hook attempt that missed the mark to kick things off, ‘the Reem’ immediately tied things up with a clinch against the fence. NGannou didn’t make it comfortable for him though, firing off knees and foot stomps until the referee separated them.
From there, it was the beginning of the end for Overeem. After avoiding another looping left hook, Ngannou sent the Dutchman flying with a vicious counter left hand that turned the lights out before he hit the canvas. The referee stepped in just as Ngannou landed a nasty hammerfist to award him the knockout victory at 1:42 of the very first round.
Overeem lay on the mat for an extended period with his toes curled as Ngannou did a victory lap around the Octagon.
HOLY LEFT HOOK! 😱
