Frank Lampard may not be hanging about to enjoy retirement.
Chelsea’s record goalscorer hung up his boots for good just four months ago but he could be back in the game sooner than you might have thought, having held talks over a potential move into management.
On Tuesday evening, several outlets reported that Lampard had held talks with League One side Oxford United about their vacant manager’s position.

Oxford are pursuing a replacement for Michael Appleton, who left the U’s to take up a role as assistant manager at Leiceser City, and Lampard is understood to be at the top of their wishlist.
Lampard, who retired in February following a brief stint with New York City FC, has made no secret of his desire to move into management now that his playing days are behind him.
“I want to manage. Most of my career I wasn’t sure but when I got into my thirties I became a lot more interested,” the legendary England midfielder said in March.
“Much as I’m interested in coaching I’ve just as much interest in how to deal with people.”
We should stress that no deal is done for Lampard to take over at the Kassam Stadium but that didn’t stop Wikipedia from doing what Wikipedia does.
