Frank Warren expects the rematch between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder to be signed off on before the scheduled purse bid on February 5
Talks were already well underway between the undefeated heavyweights’ camps before the WBC ordered the rematch earlier this week and Frank Warren anticipates no problem in getting the fight over the line.
“Negotiations are going on at the moment. I expect us to agree terms,” Warren told BT Sport.
“There’s a willingness to do the fight, it’s the most lucrative match for Tyson – there’s more money in that than fighting Joshua – and it’s an easier fight to make because the parties wanna make it happen.”
Fresh from the controversial split draw in Los Angeles last month, Fury’s promoter initially expressed a desire for ‘The Gypsy King’ to enjoy home advantage for the second fight.
Fury held out hope for Old Trafford while Warren suggested a London stadium but both always knew that it was going to require another trip to the United States if they were to maximise their earnings.
“[America] is the most lucrative,” Warren said. “I’d like it to be in England, but it takes two to tango.
“I would think the fight’s gonna be late-April/May if we can agree terms.”
April 27 is rumoured to be the targeted date for Wilder vs. Fury II and part of the negotiations have seen Warren insist on neutral judges after the scandalous scorecards that were handed in at the Staples Centre seven weeks ago.
“It was very poor judging,” Warren added. “We certainly don’t want to be in that position again. We want all neutral judges.
“We don’t want any American judges, no British judges, or Mexican judges.”
