Freiburg’s Nils Petersen score spectacular lob from 40 yards against Borussia Dortmund

What a strike

Wunderbar!

Borussia Dortmund dropped points once again today as they could only muster a 2-2 draw against Freigburg at Signal Iduna Park.

Freiburg took the lead in the 68th minute courtesy of one of the goals of the season. Juilan Weigl uncharacteristically gave the ball away inside his own half, as Nils Peterson anticipated the pass and intercepted it well. Spotting the goalkeeper off his line, he then executed an incredibly ambitious shot from about 40 yards. But it paid off.

This was Nils Petersen’s second goal of the game, having levelled the score in the first half after Shinji Kagawa had given Dortmund the lead in the first 10 minutes.

An injury time goal from Jeremy Toljan salvaged a point for Dortmund who still haven’t won a Bundesliga match in 2018.

Jadon Sancho, who was part of the squad that won the under-17 World Cup last autumn, made his third consecutive start for Dortmund – Peter Stöger is clearly a big fan of the highly rated youngster.

Sancho may have more or a role to play in this Dortmund side if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaves this January, as imminent his departure could see André Schürrle move into a central position, leaving the pool of wingers available to Stöger slightly shallower.
