Jurgen Klopp has hardly had time to even find the ignition, let alone start the machine, but one of football’s finest pundits is already impressed.
Liverpool thumped Manchester City 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium and their new boss is earning his team plaudits left, right and centre. Big challenges or not.
Klopp has had to work with what Brendan Rodgers left behind, but even before his first transfer window it’s easy to see the German’s not doing a half bad job.
Three first half strikes at the home of the Premier League favourites sent a message around England that the new man means business, and Gary Neville was one of those who sat up and took notice.
Klopp had Neville salivating once before when he brought his Dortmund team to the Etihad and absolutely tore strips off Man City only for Joe Hart to single-handedly hold them to a 1-1 draw.
The Sky Sports pundit said that was the best performance he remembers in recent history but he’s already starting to see shades of that night in this Liverpool team.
“The best performance I’ve seen from anyone in the past six or seven years was when Dortmund came here [to the Etihad],” Neville said. “There are signs of that from Liverpool today.”
He isn’t the only one who can see a difference either.
And that is why we wanted Klopp. The difference in the players under him is startling. #LFC

My god. Jurgen Klopp. What a man, more importantly an incredible manager.

And, whilst the Martin Skrtel screamer towards the end of the game was just the deadly icing on top of the scrumptious cake assembled by Klopp, it’s nothing Jamie Carragher hasn’t seen before.
I taught Skrtel that every day at Melwood!!
