Get your football fix in with stupidly good volley from European U21 Championship

What a hit!

Football lives!

If you, like so many others, are sick of the transfer drivel that pervades the headlines in this horrible period in between Premier League seasons and just want to see a bloody ball kicked, you’re in luck.

A ball was kicked in some style on Tuesday night, when Portugal faced off with Spain in the European U21 Championship.

The Group B clash had been relatively smooth sailing for the Spanish, thanks to goals from Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez and Everton target Sandro Ramirez either side of half-time.

And while the result still went in favour of Spain, the game will likely be best remembered for a stunning volley from Portugal’s Bruma with fifteen minutes remaining.

The commentators were in agreement that the below strike was the goal of the tournament thus far.

After a clearance from the head of Hector Bellerin, Bruma set himself for the kind of shot that, nine times out of ten, blazes over the bar.

But the 22-year-old wasted no time in introducing himself to the sweet spot as he perfectly walloped through the ball and found the top corner.

In Britain, schoolkids still shout “Gerrard”, “Scholes” and “Yeboah” every time a volley presents itself on the edge of the box.

No doubt that Portugal youngsters will be roaring “BrumAAAAA” for the foreseeable future.

Inaki Williams wrapped up the game by scoring Spain’s third with the final kick of the 90 minutes but there’s no doubt about what the highlight of this particular match was.
