Maybe Harry Redknapp really will get the band back together.
Shortly after Redknapp signed a one-year contract extension at Birmingham, supporters leapt to conclusions about the names who would presumably show up on the veteran manager’s transfer wishlist.
Gags about reunions with Peter Crouch, Niko Kranjcar, Jermain Defoe and Younes Kaboul did the rounds on social media as fans expected some of the old gang to become part of Redknapp’s latest attempts at wheeling and dealing.

Another Redknapp favourite who has been linked with a move to St. Andrews now that ‘Arry is in charge is former Cameroon international Benoit Assou-Ekotto.
Redknapp managed the left back at both Spurs and QPR, and he’s admitted that he’d be eager to bring the 33-year-old, who spent the last year with Ligue 1 side Metz, into his set-up.
“Somewhere inside I’m thinking I can get him going again,” Redknapp said of the player when speaking to the Spurs Show podcast, as transcribed by the Birmingham Mail.
After *hopefully* joking that Assou-Ekotto was keen on a career as a porn star, Redknapp was seemingly more serious when discussing the prospect of taking him to the Blues.
“The only trouble is that he’s admitted he wants to be a pornstar,” Redknapp continued.
“Maybe I can get another year out of him before he decides to do that.
“What a good player. He could well end up in the Birmingham colours next year, Benoit.”
