Take a bow, Eden Hazard
The Chelsea man didn’t score Belgium’s opener against Iceland on Thursday night – he didn’t even get the assist – but without his inch-perfect pass, in the build-up, it definitely wouldn’t have happened.
25 minutes remained in the Nations League match at the Heysel Stadium, and the stubborn Icelandic defence had done a decent job in keeping the Belgians out.
Then, the ball arrived at Hazard’s feet.
Picking the ball up midway through the Icelandic half, Hazard dribbled towards the penalty area before sharply cutting inside onto his right foot. There, spotting the run of Thomas Meunier on the right wing, he curled a perfect pass into the Paris Saint-Germain fullback’s path.
Passed across the six-yard box by Meunier, Michy Batshuayi was presented with a straightforward finish to open the scoring.
GOAL FOR BELGIUM
Batshuayi finishes off a superbly worked team move by the Belgians.
