Here’s how much ‘Vegas Dave’ won for his huge Miesha Tate bet

Tom Victor

After Dave Oancea’s last two big MMA bets, we doubt there will be many people questioning his wisdom.

The high-stakes bettor, known as ‘Vegas Dave’, went against all received wisdom by backing Holly Holm to beat Ronda Rousey last year, and it paid off for him with a $240,000 (£) payday.

So when he put down $77,000 on another underdog, it was probably because he knew they had a very good chance of victory.

And, true to form, the five-figure wager on Miesha Tate to dethrone Holm at the first attempt paid dividends, earning Oancea a cool $300k.

The Hawaiian professional punter has had faith in ‘Cupcake’ for a long time, and caught up with her in the week before her victory over Holm.

And the pair were reunited after it was all said and done, at which point Vegas Dave knew it was time to celebrate.
