Here’s how to follow England v Wales if you’re not near a TV

Take note

Tom Victor

England and Wales will meet at 2pm on Thursday in their crunch European Championships clash in Lens.

Great for those concerned by the prospect of all-day drinking contributing to more fan trouble; less great for people stuck in traditional 9-5s who can’t watch the game in their workplace.

If you’re one of those people, you probably can’t justify taking a two-hour lunch break at the convenient time of 2pm.

But Twitter has found a way to keep you updated in real time if you’re stuck behind your desk for the duration of the game.

Here’s how it works:

Follow your chosen team on Twitter (either @England or @FAWales)

twitter

Hit ‘Message’ and send the word ‘play’

You’ll be notified that you’re receiving updates, and once that’s taken care of, just sit back and wait.

Then, when the game begins, goal alerts will be delivered straight to the lock screen of your phone, assuming notifications are turned on.

You don’t even need to unlock your phone – the updates will show up on-screen without you having to do anything.

In addition to goal alerts, England and Wales will let fans know when the half-time and full-time whistles are blown.

Four other Euro 2016 countries are offering the service on Twitter: Northern Ireland (@NorthernIreland), France (@equipedefrance), Spain (@sefutbol) and Germany (@TwitterSportDE).

Handy huh? While you enjoy that bit of tech wizardry, why don’t you download our free Euro 2016 Google Calendar? Full of team and channel information for every match in the tournament, you’ll never miss a kick off with it!
