Higuain could be set for surprise Man City move

Tom Victor

Gonzalo Higuain has been linked with a Premier League move for several summers, but a new club has entered the race for the Napoli striker.

Manchester City are keen on the Argentina international, according to the Sun on Sunday, as the club look to refresh their front-line.

Higuain has been offered a new contract by Napoli, but may opt to leave Italy after the club missed out on Champions League football and parted ways with manager Rafa Benitez.

Higuain moved to Napoli from Real Madrid in 2013 and has scored more than 50 goals in his two seasons with the club.

City seem poised to let Stevan Jovetic leave for Inter Milan, while Edin Dzeko is also expected to be on the move this summer.

That would leave Sergio Aguero and Wilfried Bony as the only two senior strikers on City’s books, although new £49m signing Raheem Sterling could also be used in an advanced role.
