Huddersfield striker learns the hard way that play-off medals are really heavy

CONFIRMED: Play-off winner’s medals can do some damage.

Huddersfield are a Premier League side again, for the first time in over 40 years, after a dramatic penalty shoot-out sent them out of the Championship on Monday afternoon.

Manager David Wagner hailed his players as “heroes” after their unforgettable trip to Wembley ended in riotous celebrations.

“I said to the players before the semi-finals: ‘You are heroes, you finished fifth in the league, but from hero to zero in football is sometimes only a week and now you have the opportunity to become legends.’ Now they are legends for sure,” Wagner said.

“Everybody will remember what this group of players have done with a small budget. And they deserve it. This football club has written an unbelievable story.”

The story is certainly unbelievable but the game was far from memorable, with chances few and far between in a cagey affair where £170 million was at stake for the winners.

But now that the dust has settled and Huddersfield have been confirmed as the final addition to the 2017/18 Premier League season, we’ve been reminded of the highlight of Monday’s game.

It comes courtesy of Huddersfield forward Collin Quaner and it’s bloody brilliant.

As the German jumped up and down in front of the supporters, he was reminded of the full weight of the medal that was wrapped around his neck.

We would pay good money to hear the ‘clunk’ that accompanied the impact but we’ll just have to make do with the amazing visual.
