The Tour de France had to be temporarily suspended after a huge crash took down around 20 riders, including race leader Fabian Cancellara.
The decision was taken to “neutralize” the race, with officials citing concerns about not being able to provide medical backup to those still riding.
According to reports, all medical resources were devoted to those who crashed, forcing the rest of the riders to wait for the race to restart.
No one remembers race stopped by organisers because of crash. Official reason too many race doctors tied up treating injured, needed to wait
