Is this the luckiest fantasy football manager ever?

Tom Victor

Success in fantasy football is a combination of skill and luck.

You can prepare perfectly only for your star player to pick up an injury on the eve of the game and miss out on the action.

It’s even worse when that player is your triple captain…unless your vice captain happens to score four times that same gameweek.

We have already revealed that 13 Fantasy Premier League managers picked up a massive 75 points after Newcastle midfielder Gini Wijnaldum ran riot in the 6-2 victory over Norwich.

But what we didn’t know until now was that one of the 13 didn’t have the Dutchman as their captain to begin with.

Edi Kukleci from Norway gave Daniel Sturridge the armband for his team ‘YNWA’. Supremely confident about Liverpool’s prospects against Tottenham, he even made the England striker triple captain.

The Reds drew a blank at White Hart Lane, of course, but Sturridge wasn’t involved. Step forward Wijnaldum, who helped Edi rack up a sensational 145 points, the highest total of any FPL manager in the world.

We hope he realises how lucky he was.
