It had looked like James McClean had turned a corner.
After dropping out of the Premier League, the Irish international had clutched his second chance with both hands for Tony Pulis’ West Brom.
McClean scored his first goal for the club against Tottenham, and has looked like one of Albion’s biggest attacking threats.
So he could have done without the needless retaliation which brought him a red card against Bournemouth.
McClean's retaliatory red card foul was Sunday-league stupid. And now Albion will have to weather the storm for 50 minutes

Even West Brom supporters knew the winger could have no complaints after a dangerous challenge on Adam Smith.
McClean maybe fouled but can't defend that kind of challenge 😖 #wba

Don't know how people can moan about McClean getting sent off, was a horrible tackle

And his recent comments about Jurgen Klopp might come back to bite him.
Next week, Klopp: 'James McClean is a bit of an idiot' https://t.co/12AL7h7bjQ

So McClean calls Klopp an idiot. Just after being reprimanded for his act in front of Sunderland fans and before a daft red card. #Idiot
