Almost two months had passed since Danny Simpson’s last tweet to Jamie Carragher.
The simmering social media feud between the pair looked to have cooled and there was no more bad blood between them.
Or so we thought.
At the beginning of March, one of the most unlikely wars of words took place on Twitter between Leicester’s Simpson and the Liverpool legend.
Carragher had just criticised the Foxes players for performing out of their skin after much-beloved manager Claudio Ranieri had been sacked by the club.
Shortly thereafter, this tweet appeared on Simpson’s Twitter feed and so began one of the greatest online feuds in recent memory.
Just gonna put it out there. No offence but I don't think I would ever see @GNev2 training in a Man City Training shirt pic.twitter.com/fgjOOLqKdl

come on Jamie it's your job to check them stats. Aren't we all just average players who won the best league in the world
— DANNY SIMPSON (@dannysimpson) March 1, 2017
Sorry if that offends you, I was talking about your careers as a whole. Great respect for what you all achieved.

@Carra23 I respect your opinion, and as a defender I look up to you and what you've achieved. However i won the league you haven't 👍🏽 😂 🏆

Thought you had more? You part of those joke players at Man U who claimed titles after 5 games a season?!!
Quiet on Seville Daniel. 🤔 https://t.co/UWu1hZwIiA— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) March 1, 2017

First I was called out by one of the worst defenders to win the PL now a spice boy!
I'll do the two of them at the same time!! https://t.co/OxMeSCq2zu— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) March 2, 2017
And that seemed to be the end of it.
A full eight weeks had passed, with bygones apparently bygones.
But Carragher is not one to sit on pure, solid gold and not utilise it.
So when the former England centre-half was pictured with a snake around his shoulders during a recent trip Down Under, he simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

Carragher has proven himself a master troller and, whatever Simpson’s response, we think it’s safe to say that it’s not going to be better than the stellar effort above from the Reds fan favourite.
Check.
Bloody.
Mate.
