Japan and England both earn three call-ups to this team of the weekend

And there's a Georgian too

Kevin Beirne

No real complaints here, given the giantkilling nature of Japan’s victory over South Africa.

The Brave Blossoms have three players in Midi Olympique’s World Cup XV from the opening weekend of action.

Eddie Jones’ side stunned South Africa 34-32 to set the entire tournament on its heels.

England also boasted three inclusions – but while we completely agree that Mike Brown has earned his place, we’re a little less certain about Joe Launchbury and Tom Youngs.

Launchbury made a massive impact in the second half against Fiji, but he was only on the pitch for 30 minutes. Youngs, meanwhile, was part of a pack which lost three scrums against the head and struggles for quick ball against a Fijian side not noted for their forward play.

Another sub, Sonny Bill Williams, makes the cut. He sparked the All Blacks to life in the second half, against Argentina, while hat-trick hero Cory Allen is the only Welsh player to make the cut.

Georgia also sneak in a player at scrumhalf following their impressive 17-10 win over Tonga. But surprisingly they can find no room for any Argentinians.
