West Ham are preparing for their first match under new manager David Moyes this weekend.
To put it mildly, the news that the former Manchester United boss was to take over from the dismissed Slaven Bilic didn’t enthuse too many of the club’s supporters when it was announced.
According to reports, striker Javier Hernandez wasn’t too chuffed about it either. The Mexican international, who was part of the United squad during their miserable spell under Moyes, had reportedly asked to leave the club in the days following the appointment – despite only arriving in East London in the summer.
The 29-year-old has, however, moved quickly to silence such rumours. In a tweet sent from his Twitter account on Thursday morning, ‘Chicharito’ stressed that the reports were ‘completely false’, stressing that he had not asked to leave and remained ‘100% committed’ to helping the club atone for their poor start to the season.
Moyes’ last job in management came at Sunderland, where he was unable to prevent the club from being relegated from the Premier League last season. Prior to that, he also had a spell as manager of Real Soceidad in La Liga.
