Joe Rogan reveals how Fox attempts to cover up blood during live UFC broadcasts

This is new... and probably unsafe

Joe Rogan’s podcast is great for getting the inside track on all things Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The UFC’s colour commentator has worked for the promotion since 1997 so has a fairly unique insight on what exactly goes on behind the scenes.

Rogan often divulges such information on his podcast, particularly when in the company of close friends Eddie Bravo, Brendan Schaub or Bryan Callen.

It was former UFC heavyweight Schaub who joined Rogan for the latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience on which it was revealed that the promotion tries to make the fights appear less bloody by spray painting over stains on the mat in between fights and that Rogan is discouraged from talking about blood as much as he does on pay-per-view broadcasts.

“You know what they do during the Fox fights?” Rogan asked Schaub. “They spray paint over the blood.”

“Dude, it’s gross,” he says. “We’re sitting there doing the commentary and talking about some stuff and they’re spraying like full board, paint-booth, like doing a Chevelle, ten feet from us. I’m not exaggerating.

“Dude they spray paint it. They walk around and spray paint over the blood. And you’re like ‘are you f**king sh*tting me?’

“And the camera guys are all covering their faces with shirts and walking away. It’s probably illegal. Like you have to have masks on and stuff for that sh*t. You can’t just blow it into the crowd.

“There’s 15,000 people sitting in the audience and they’re like ‘well what’s really important is that we deny what we’re involved with so we’ll put a little spray paint on this blood. We don’t want to see any blood. Blood’s inside of everybody, we need blood to stay alive and sometimes it’s a bloody business but we don’t want to look at it.’

“They’re like airbrushing nipples over there. Stop it!”
