We all make mistakes, and we’ll hold our hands up after last week’s selections.
In fairness, few could have predicted Aleksandar Kolarov missing a penalty, or Aleksandar Mitrovic having an uneventful game, or Arsenal shackling Bafetimbi Gomis with some rare defensive solidity.
You guys did much better, or more specifically Daniel Santanna did much better, singling out Romelu Lukaku.
Here’s how the JOE vs the Readers table looks after one week:
Player 1 | Player 2 | Player 3 | Total | |
JOE.co.uk | Mitrovic 1 | Gomis 2 | Kolarov 0 | 3 |
Readers | Sanchez 3 | Kouyate 2 | Lukaku 14 | 19 |
We know we need to do better this week, so here’s who you should be bringing into your team. Again, we’ve got three from us and three from you.
JOE’s picks
Nathan Redmond – Midfield – £5.6m
For all their recent woes, Norwich have looked surprisingly dangerous going forward this season.
England Under-21 regular Redmond isn’t always a guaranteed starter, but he ought to get close to 90 minutes at home to Swansea.
If the Canaries want to get out of their current funk they’ll need their wingers to supply Cameron Jerome or Dieumerci Mbokani up front…and maybe get on the scoresheet themselves.

Roberto Firmino – Midfield – £8.0
Jurgen Klopp has already begun to make an impression at Anfield, bringing good performances out of some players who struggled under Brendan Rodgers.
Firmino, who the German apparently looked at while still in charge at Borussia Dortmund, is one such player.
The visit of Crystal Palace is very symbolic for the Reds, whose recent meetings with the London side have been particularly painful. It’s a chance for Klopp to move away from Brendan Rodgers’ legacy, and the Brazilian can help him do just that.
I have to admit that Firmino looks 100% better under Klopp #LFC

Enner Valencia – Striker – £5.8m
Valencia was the one bright spark in West Ham’s otherwise abysmal display at Watford, coming on at half-time and coming within a post’s width of a goal.
The Ecuador international was injured during the Hammers’ early-season European adventure and could be ready to make his first league start of the season against Everton.
For all the Toffees’ attacking flourish against Sunderland, the defensive pairing of John Stones and Ramiro Funes Mori looked rather shaky, and could struggle against the unpredictable South American.

It would be em-Mahrez-ing not to pick him.
