The worst thing about the international break is the lack of fantasy football.
Well, maybe not the absolute worst, but it isn’t fun.
Thankfully the wait is over, and we’re back to predicting who’s going to win us some points this week.
But first, a quick recap on how our JOE vs The Readers competition is looking so far.
Previous total | Player 1 | Player 2 | Player 3 | Total | |
JOE | 3 | Redmond 0 | Firmino 1 | E. Valencia 1 | 5 |
Readers | 19 | Pelle 1 | Son 1 | Mahrez 2 | 23 |
Not the best of weeks for any of our picks, though injuries to Valencia and Redmond didn’t help.
Here’s hoping we can improve this week.
JOE’s picks
Gylfi Sigurdsson – Midfield – £7.2m
Sigurdsson’s Swansea performances have been solid, but he’s not shown the same consistency he did last season.
That can change against Bournemouth, whose leaky defence ought to offer him plenty of space.
If Garry Monk’s job is under threat, as has been suggested in the media, then a big performance from the Icelander and his Swans team-mates could help ease the pressure.

Nathan Aké – Defender – £4.4m
Watford’s defensive solidity, especially at Vicarage Road, has helped them quietly move their way into mid-table.
Chelsea loanee Aké has been one of the stars, excelling at the back and showing good attacking drive, and impressed a lot in the home win over West Ham.
Upcoming opponents Man United are a tougher proposition, but with Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney both sidelined the meeting couldn’t come at a better time for the Hornets.

Cesc Fà bregas – Midfield – £8.4m
FÃ bregas hasn’t been his usual self this season, but that could easily change against Norwich.
The Canaries have been vulnerable to goals from midfielders this season, not least against Newcastle when Gini Wijnaldum struck four times, and the Spaniard will hope to open his account against Alex Neil’s side.
Under-pressure Chelsea can’t afford to drop more points, so they’ll hope to see the Fà bregas of 2014/15 rather than this season’s inferior version.
