You’ve got to love Jon Walters.
If you’ve followed the career of Jon Walters then you’ll know that the Stoke City man is one of the good guys..
Whether it’s his incredibly committed performances on the field or his sense of humour off it, it seems that he’s one of those footballers that commands the respect of his fans and fellow pros.
So when a man wearing a speedo (and not much else) came running up to him on a country road, of course Walters was going to give him some money.
Wait, wait, we’ve missed out on a lot of context there. Let us fill you in.
The man wearing the swim gear was Everton superfan Michael Cullen AKA ‘Speedo Mick’. Mick was walking from Buckingham Palace to the Merseyside Derby in his speedos to raise £10,000 for the Charlie’s Chance Foundation, a foundation that helps raise funds so that the families of young children can afford to pay the travel costs for their necessary treatments.
Thankfully, Charlie has received an anonymous donation which will allow her to travel to the US, but good ol’ Speedo Mick has decided to keep the campaign going to help other sick children.
While out on his recent walk, he happened to bump into a man that was raised on Merseyside and who supported Everton as a boy.
After seeing this, it’s clear that Walters still has an affinity towards the club and a big heart also. Top man.
Big shout out to @JonWalters19 of @stokecity for stopping and donating £50, #not to big for his boots, #Trueblue an All @Charlieschance pic.twitter.com/TZOKbGIXob
