Brendan Rodgers was in defiant mood after Liverpool’s victory over Aston Villa.
The under-pressure Liverpool manager hit out at those who have been calling for him to lose his job.
“Sometimes we haven’t lost games and the hysteria around it is pretty clear that there is maybe something else going on from behind.”
“I am talking about people outside of here.”
However, despite Liverpool’s 3-2 victory over Villa, it appears Rodgers will have to continue to put up with speculation around losing his job, and particularly a certain German manager replacing him.
According to The Daily Mail, Jurgen Klopp is still interested in potentially taking charge at Anfield, but only if he’s given complete control over transfer dealings.
A brief not afforded to Rodgers during his three years with the club.
Klopp would want an end to Liverpool’s transfer committee, which has been something of a scourge at times to Rodgers, and a source of frustration for fans.
The signing of Mario Balotelli was reportedly driven by the committee, who also blocked Rodgers’ move for Swansea defender Ashley Williams.
According to the report: “The former Borussia Dortmund manager is open to the idea of managing one of Europe’s traditional big clubs but only on his terms.”
Sorry Brendan, it looks like it’ll take a few more wins for these rumours to go away.
