Jurgen Klopp admits that he has no idea when Daniel Sturridge will return from injury problems

Daniel Sturridge’s Liverpool future remains very much uncertain, with Jurgen Klopp claiming that the striker needs to prove that he is over his injury troubles.

Sturridge, who was linked with a shock move away from Liverpool earlier in January, has featured on just three occasions for the club since Klopp’s arrival, and his manager has admitted that he isn’t clear when the England international is set to return.

“He is still working, sometimes it’s better, sometimes it’s a bit worse because of one or the other issues,” the German told The Independent.

“He has done a lot of sessions in the last few weeks but it is always interrupted through a few breaks, so he needs consistency in sessions and that is what we try to do.

“With his injury history that is not coincidence, some things are not right if you are injured that often.

“I am not here to think about what happens with a player in the future, we have to work in this moment together with Daniel on his fitness.

“He is a very good player but in this moment he is not available, so we don’t have to talk too much about him.”

Liverpool take on West Ham for a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday, with Sturridge forced to watch on from the sidelines once again.
