With good reason, Newcastle United fans are riding the crest of a wave at the moment.
Not only are they heading back to the Premier League next season, they’re doing so as winners of the Championship after a late Jack Grealish goal for Aston Villa against Brighton on the final day of the season handed them the title.

As Rafa Benitez makes plans to strengthen his squad ahead of their return to the top flight, there’s also been a considerable amount of interest in the new home shirt the team will be wearing when the season gets going again next August.
Only a matter of weeks ago, supporters appeared impressed by ‘leaked’ images of the new shirt, which featured a special 125-year anniversary crest. Notably, the images showed that the shirt didn’t have a sponsor on it, with their deal with Wonga expiring at the end of the season. Although it was reported by the Chronicle Live last week that new shirt sponsorship deal has already been agreed, there has yet to be any official confirmation.
However, another leaked image appears to have shed light on the matter, as well as confirming Newcastle’s new home shirt design. An image of striker Dwight Gayle wearing what’s claimed to be the club’s next shirt has been doing the rounds on social media. The shirt appears to be strikingly similar to the earlier leaked design, with the same 125-year anniversary badge visible on its chest.
As was rumoured in some Newcastle United internet fan forums, it seems that Fun88 – a Chinese betting firm – will be the club’s next shirt sponsor.

Although there’s still to be any official confirmation of this from the club, it seems like the cat is well and truly out of the bag on this one.
