Leeds took another step towards promotion
Leeds United extended their lead at the top of the Championship with a 2-0 victory over Derby County at Elland Road on Friday night.
The buildup to the game was overshadowed by claims that a member of Leeds’ coaching staff had been spotted acting suspiciously near Derby’s training ground on Thursday, some alleging he had been sent to spy on Frank Lampard’s side’s preparations for the game.
Shortly before kick-off, Marcelo Bielsa confirmed the incident, accepting full responsibility for it.
Considering all the talk of ‘spying’ that took place before the game, it’s understandable why the sight of Leeds’ Mateusz Klich appearing to mark the win with a binoculars celebration caused such a reaction from those watching Sky Sports’ coverage.

A brilliant performance topped off by Klich doing the binoculars. In all my years I don't think I've loved Leeds management and a bunch of Leeds players like I do this lot. It's like they get what it's all about #LUFC pic.twitter.com/kE0tJ8V9nV

Leeds now sit five point clear of second place Norwich City, who play their game in hand away at West Brom on Saturday afternoon. Bielsa’s men return to league action away at Stoke next Saturday before an away game at Rotherham the following weekend. Their next home game sees them host Norwich at the start of February, a game which, if they win, could see them take a significant step towards promotion to the top flight for the first time since 2004.
