Although he might not be old enough to fully appreciate it, it’s been an incredible few months for Murtaza Ahmadi.
A photograph of him wearing a home made Lionel Messi Argentina shirt – fashioned from a striped blue and white plastic bag – went viral and sparked a global search to find out the identity of the youngster.
With the power of the internet, Murtaza was tracked down to a remote region of southern Afghanistan. And soon after, Messi started to put plans in place to meet the five-year-old in person.
Although the Barcelona star is yet to finalise the details of his meeting, he has sent a special gift to Murtaza, as seen in the tweet below.

Murtaza can now add his new signed Argentina shirt to the Barcelona strip he was given by the Afghanistan FA.
