Liverpool have been handed a sizeable injury blow after the extent of Mamadou Sakho’s knee injury was confirmed.
Having been spotted hobbling out of Anfield on crutches following the defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend, Sakho withdrew from the French squad earlier in the week.
Now, The Mirror reveal that the club have confirmed the defender won’t be playing again this year – with ligament damage requiring a six to eight week rest period.
Although the news is a blow to Jurgen Klopp, especially with Sakho enjoying a batch of good form of late, it is in many ways a relief. Some feared that he’d sustained a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament which would have almost certainly ended his season.
