Liverpool confirm Steven Gerrard will line out for club again – in Australia

The former club captain will feature for Legends side

From LA to Down Under, Steven Gerrard is surely clocking up the air miles.

The former Liverpool club captain hasn’t enjoyed the best of times on the American west coast this season as he failed to steer 2014 MLS champions LA Galaxy into the play-offs.

There was fervent speculation that the ex-England captain might rejoin Liverpool in January during his off-season break, but that rumour has been dismissed by Jurgen Klopp.

However, Gerrard’s connection to the Reds isn’t over entirely, as it’s now been announced that he will line up for a Legends side playing in Australia during the winter.

The Reds have confirmed the former captain will join his ex-colleague Jamie Carragher as well as Ian Rush in the squad for the game against an Australian Legends side on January 7.

Gerard Houllier will take charge of the team and it will be Gerrard’s first time playing with a Liver bird on his chest since leaving the club last summer to join LA Galaxy.
