“I think if Liverpool were playing out in my back garden, I wouldn’t watch them.”
Roy Keane has offered a pretty damning assessment of Liverpool. The Irishman’s assessments tend only to be damning, but even by his own standards, he managed to completely dismiss Jurgen Klopp’s team. Keane was a pundit on ITV’s Champions League highlights show on Wednesday night, but didn’t offer much analysis of Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Maribor at Anfield.
Instead, the former Manchester United captain opted to write off their chances for the season and said that Liverpool are “drifting” and “going nowhere fast.”
“It’s hard to figure out Liverpool at the moment,” Keane said.
“I think, it’s hard to get excited about them. To me, they are going nowhere fast. Again, they’re neat and tidy, but come the end of the season when the prizes are being given out, Liverpool will be nowhere near them… There’s not too much to say about Liverpool. They’re just drifting. Drifting nowhere.”
Keane did concede that it is more difficult for Liverpool to recruit the defensive players they need when Manchester City can spend £50m on full-backs, but overall, he seemed deeply unimpressed.
“They’ve had a good night but they’ve played nobody tonight. The bigger picture for Liverpool going forward: they are well behind the other teams.”

I wouldn’t want to watch Liverpool in Roy Keane’s garden either, as they may accidentally stumble on the remains of Alf Inge Haaland
