Although Brendan Rodgers was under growing pressure at Anfield, the timing of his sacking still came as something of a shock.
The assumption was that he’d be given until at least Christmas to turn things around. There is growing speculation that John W Henry and the Liverpool board have already identified and contacted a replacement.
Most Liverpool fans would dearly love that man to be Jurgen Klopp. The Borussia Dortmund manager relishes the role of underdog, and he worked miracles at the Westfalenstadion, winning and doing it with immense style.
However, according to German football expert Raphael Honigstein, there has been no contact between Klopp and Liverpool Football Club…yet.
Whether he is the prime candidate remains to be seen. Some have suggested that Henry and co are concerned by the German’s ‘forceful’ character…
