Liverpool injury curse strikes again as Benteke suffers ligament damage

Injury crisis...

Nooruddean Choudry

If we didn’t know better we’d assume Brendan Rodgers had cursed Anfield before he departed.

Jurgen Klopp has experienced rotten luck since replacing the County Antrim man, with key players suffering serious injuries in his first few weeks in charge.

First there was exciting defender Joe Gomez, and then in-form striker Danny Ings, who both suffered anterior cruciate ligament injuries.

This was on top of established stars Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge being unavailable to play under their new German coach.

Now Christian Benteke is the latest player in Klopp’s squad to face a period on the sidelines with an injury to his medial knee ligaments.

He will definitely sit out Liverpool’s Capital One Cup clash with Bournemouth, and will almost certainly miss the trip to Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime.

When will Klopp’s Kop crop stop being cropped?
