Liverpool Ladies fall victim to embarrassing kit error in victory over Yeovil Town

Oops

Whoever was in charge of the kit most definitely got a bollocking after this monumental screw-up.

Liverpool Ladies travelled to Yeovil Town Ladies on Sunday for their Women’s Super League One Spring Series season opener but, when the team arrived at the ground, they were flabbergasted to learn that there wasn’t so much as a stitch of red for them to wear.

The Liverpool kit had been forgotten and, with over 200 miles separating the cities, there was no way to retrieve the kits before kick-off.

Luckily, the Reds’ newly promoted opponents thought on their feet and kindly offered to give Liverpool’s players a loan of Yeovil’s away strip for the match.

Opposition player names remained on the back of the yellow away strip which was sported by Liverpool in their 4-1 victory at Huish Park so the unexpected mishap clearly did nothing to take them off their game.

The visitor’s Alex Greenwood converted a penalty before a Gemma Bonner strike and Katie Zelem brace gave Liverpool a 4-0 advantage, only for a spot-kick from Sarah Wiltshire to provide some bit of consolation for the kindly hosts.

It wasn’t the greatest day for Liverpool’s men either as more defensive frailty saw Jurgen Klopp’s side fall to a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield.

But, hey, at least they were wearing the right clothing so every cloud and all that…
