Liverpool will reportedly have to double their initial bid of £10m in they want to bring in Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
The German international has been in and out of the Barça team, with Chilean shot-stopper Claudio Bravo preferred to him in the league, but the Spanish club are holding out for big money.
While he may be just 23 years old, the former Borussia Monchengladbach number one is thought to want regular first-team action, and Jurgen Klopp is thought to be an admirer.
And The Independent report that the Champions League holders will not part with Ter Stegen for less than £20m.
Liverpool’s current first-choice goalkeeper, Simon Mignolet, recently signed a new five-year deal with the club.
But the Belgian has not been on his best form this season, and may be forced to remain at Anfield only as a back-up.
If Ter Stegen arrives, just months after winning UEFA’s Save of the Season award, that will surely be the case.
