Liverpool have been active in the transfer market so far this summer
They broke the world transfer record for a goalkeeper when they landed Alisson Becker from Roma for €75m. They spent €45m on Fabinho and signed Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City for €15m. Liverpool’s €60m move for Naby Keita also went through, after agreeing on the transfer with RB Leipzig for the midfielder last summer.
It looks like the club will now try to recoup some of that money. According to reports in The Telegraph and The Daily Mail, Liverpool are preparing to offload several players.
Danny Ings could be on the move to try to kickstart his career after some injury-hit seasons. Newcastle United, West Ham United, Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Southampton are understood to be interested in the forward. Liverpool reportedly value Ings at €22.4m.
Liverpool reportedly value Divock Origi at €30.3m, which seems like a lot, even in the current market, for a player who has scored 21 goals in 71 games for the club. The Belgian striker spent last season on loan with Wolfsburg and is understood to have attracted interest from Valencia. Lazio and Cardiff City are said to be in talks with Liverpool over a move for Marko Grujic, the Serbian midfielder who spent last season on loan at Cardiff. Lazar Markovic has 12-months left on his contract and could be on the move to a Turkish or Greek club.
Other Liverpool players linked with moves away include Sheyi Ojo, Pedro Chirivella, Loris Karius, Simon Mignolet and Ben Woodburn. Reading are understood to be interested in Ojo, who Liverpool value at €16.8m. Woodburn is likely to leave on loan, and there are doubts over the futures of Mignolet and Karius.
Mignolet fell out of favour last season and appeared the most likely goalkeeper to leave the club this summer, with newly-promoted Fulham a possible destination. However, Karius may beat him to the exit door.
The German ‘keeper is reportedly unhappy with Liverpool’s decision to sign Alisson. There are also questions about Daniel Sturridge’s future. The England striker spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom and has a year left on his contract at Anfield.
If Liverpool can move on some of these players, it will represent a very productive transfer window for the club.
