Louis van Gaal confirms Manchester United interest in Cristiano Ronaldo

Since leaving Old Trafford for Real Madrid in 2009, barely a week has gone by without some kind of report linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a return to Manchester United.

Whereas many United supporters have long since given up on ever seeing Ronaldo wearing the red shirt again, Louis van Gaal may have just given them a flicker of hope.

Having made it known that he feels his current United side lack pace in wide areas, the Dutchman confirmed that the club would consider a move for their former number seven.

“He plays on the wings and he is fast and scores goals. I don’t think there is a trainer in the world that doesn’t like him,” van Gaal explained.

“Of course we would look. We are looking at all the players, not only Ronaldo, but these players are mostly not to get. Let’s wait, and hope.”

The Daily Mail also points out that United could afford the £60m transfer fee and Ronaldo’s £250,000-a-week wages.
