Luis Suarez claims Liverpool didn’t give Jamie Carragher the recognition he deserved

Robert Redmond

Jamie Carragher was in Barcelona recently.

The Sky Sports pundit attended Barcelona’s 7-0 destruction of Valencia, and was at the game not to see his old pal Gary Neville suffer a humiliating defeat, but to catch up with Luis Suarez.

The pair sat down for a wide-ranging interview for the Daily Mail, where Suarez revealed his joy at playing with Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Andreas Iniesta, the pain of missing out on the title with Liverpool and how he no longer feels the burden of responsibility with Barca.

Suarez also made some interesting comments about Jamie Carragher’s departure from Liverpool in 2013.

Liverpool All-Star Charity Match

Carragher made over 700 appearances for Liverpool over a 17 year career in the first-team, but his former teammate believes the club didn’t give him a big enough send-off.

“I never told you this but I always thought the club should have recognised you far more when you retired,” Suarez told Carragher.

“For the career that you had, one of Liverpool’s greatest players, you should have had a much bigger and better send-off in your final match. That’s just what I felt.”

Does Suarez have a point?
