Mamadou Sakho has shed light on his Liverpool situation via Snapchat

Fans aren't too happy with the timing.

Mamadou Sakho claims he is working hard but still being passed over for selection not just by Jürgen Klopp but also by development squad coach Michael Beale.

The French international defender, who missed the end of last season after a failed drug test – the results of which were later overturned – has yet to play a minute for the Reds after being sent home from the club’s pre-season tour.

And Sakho used Snapchat to vent about his frustrations at Anfield, suggesting he wants nothing more than to be back playing for the club for whom he turned out more than 30 times last season.

“Now it’s 3 weeks since I am fit to play games. I finish all my rehabilitation work. They don’t want me to play also with second team lol! Why I don’t know,” Sakho said on the social network, as reported by This is Anfield.

“I will speak soon for the people who support me and don’t understand the situation.

“I accept my situation but I can’t accept the lie… The fans deserve to know the true! Thanks for your support.”

Sakho travelled with the squad for their summer tour of the United States despite suffering from an achilles injury, but was sent home by Klopp, reportedly due to concerns about his behaviour.

The 26-year-old, who joined from Paris Saint-Germain during Brendan Rodgers’ tenure as manager, has been a divisive figure during his time on Merseyside – hugely popular with some fans but less so with others (and with Klopp).

His latest comments – coming less than 24 hours before a home meeting with Hull City which could see Liverpool end the weekend second in the Premier League – have certainly rubbed a few people up the wrong way.
