The title race is back on.
For the first time since August, Manchester City have dropped Premier League points. Pep Guardiola’s side were held 0-0 at Selhurst Park by Crystal Palace, with Ederson saving Luka Milivojevic’s stoppage time penalty to preserve their unbeaten stretch.
City were also hit with an injury concern: Gabriel Jesus leaving the field in tears before half-time. After the game, Guardiola explained that the Brazilian is likely to miss “one or two months”, adding that further tests would have to be conducted on the player to determine the severity of the injury.
Kevin De Bruyne – arguably the best player in the Premier League this season – also had to be stretchered off in stoppage time after a tackle from Jason Puncheon. Thankfully, he was seen on his feet after the full-time whistle and later told reporters he was “okay”.
Nevertheless, the injury to Jesus has – rather laughably – seen some people suggest that City are short of attacking options. It’s also breathed new life into the rumour that a fresh move for Alexis Sanchez is now imminent.
The Chilean, who will be allowed to leave The Emirates on a free at the end of the season, came narrowly close to moving to The Etihad last summer.
Gabriel Jesus is stylishly making up a reason for City to sign Sanchez tomorrow 😜😜😜😜

Alexis Sanchez to the rescue— Igwe (@normal_TM) December 31, 2017
Today or Wednesday could be Alexis Sanchez last game for Arsenal. With injuries to De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus he's moving asap.

Didn’t think City would go in for Alexis in Jan, but injuries to Jesus/KdB and another iffy performance from Sane may force their hand.
